Color Converter
Convert a color between HEX, RGB, HSL, HSV, and CMYK, including an alpha channel, and get its contrast ratio against black and white text. Works with CSS.
How to use
- Paste a color, or pick one from the swatch.
- Read every format at once.
- Use the contrast row to choose text colour over that background.
The color converter reads any common color notation, including hex, the rgb and hsl functions, percentages, and CSS color names, then writes it in every format a design tool or stylesheet expects.

Questions about color converter
- What is the contrast ratio for?
- It tells you whether text over that background passes the accessibility minimum. The ratio against black and against white is given so you can pick the better one.
- Which color names are supported?
- The full set of CSS named colors, plus transparent.
- Does it handle alpha?
- Yes. An eight-digit hex or an alpha in the function forms is carried through to every output format.
