Keyword Density Checker
Measure how often a keyword or phrase appears in your text and what share of the total it takes, for on-page SEO and over-optimisation checks.
How to use
- Paste your text into the box.
- Enter the phrase you care about, and choose 1, 2, or 3 words.
- Read the share and the list of phrases.
Keyword density is the share of a text taken up by a word or phrase. Search engines no longer reward a target density, so the useful question is whether a phrase appears often enough to be relevant without reading as spam.

Questions about keyword density checker
- What is a good keyword density?
- There is no target any more. Aim for the phrase to appear wherever it reads naturally, and check that it is not crowding the text.
- How is a two-word phrase counted?
- As a sliding pair of words, so it counts every place the two words appear next to each other.
- Why does the percentage differ from a word count share?
- A phrase share is measured against all the phrases of the same length in the text, which is the honest way to compare.
