JSON Validator
Check whether JSON is valid and see the exact line and column where the syntax breaks, plus the keys, depth, and size of the whole document.
How to use
- Paste JSON into the input.
- Read the result. Invalid input names the line and column of the first error.
- Fix the reported position and validate again.
A JSON validator parses your JSON and reports the position of the first syntax error. Valid documents also report the top-level type, key count, array items, nesting depth, and byte size.
Paste or type something above.
Questions about json validator
- How do I find the error in a large file?
- The error line comes from the byte offset the JSON parser stopped at, so it matches the position in your editor.
- Does it accept comments in JSON?
- No. JSON has no comment syntax. Those lines have to be removed before the document parses.
- What counts as valid JSON?
- Any value parses, including a bare string, number, true, or null. Objects and arrays are just the common cases.
