Unix Timestamp Converter
Turn a Unix timestamp into UTC, ISO 8601, and local date and time, with seconds or milliseconds input, plus a plain-English age and weekday.
How to use
- Paste a Unix timestamp.
- Choose whether the value is in seconds or milliseconds.
- Read the UTC, ISO, and local lines.
A Unix timestamp counts seconds since the epoch at 1970-01-01T00:00:00Z. This converter reads either seconds or milliseconds and writes the same instant in UTC, ISO 8601, and your local time zone.

Questions about unix timestamp converter
- Seconds or milliseconds?
- Check the digit count. A value near 1.7 billion with ten digits is seconds, while thirteen digits is milliseconds.
- Why is my local time different from UTC?
- The local line uses the time zone of the device you are on. The UTC and ISO lines are the same everywhere.
- What about negative timestamps?
- They are valid and mean a moment before the epoch, which is what a few systems use for dates before 1970.
