URL Encoder
Percent-encode characters that are unsafe in a URL, with component or whole-URL rules, optional plus signs for spaces, and copy-ready output.
How to use
- Type or paste the text to encode.
- Choose component rules when you are encoding one value, or whole-URL rules to keep the delimiters.
- Copy the encoded string.
URL encoding replaces characters that carry meaning in a URL with percent escapes. Encoding a whole URL leaves its reserved delimiters alone, while encoding a single component escapes them.
Paste or type something above.
Questions about url encoder
- When do I use component rules?
- For a value going into a query parameter or path segment, where characters like ampersand, equals, and slash would otherwise be read as structure.
- Should a space become a plus sign?
- Only inside a query string, where a plus is the traditional encoding for a space. In a path segment, use the percent escape.
- Does encoding change the meaning of my URL?
- No. It replaces unsafe characters with their escapes, which decode back to the same characters.
