User Agent Parser
Read a User-Agent string and see the browser, version, operating system, device type, and whether it is a crawler, with edge and Chrome told apart.
How to use
- Paste a User-Agent string.
- Read the parsed rows.
- Copy the raw string if you need it unchanged.
A User-Agent string describes the client that made a request. This parser reads it into browser, version, operating system, device, and architecture, and orders its checks so Edge and Opera are never reported as Chrome.
Paste a User-Agent string to read it.
Questions about user agent parser
- Is a User-Agent reliable?
- Less and less so. It is self-reported and easy to spoof, so treat it as a hint for layout and content decisions, never as an access control.
- Why is Edge not shown as Chrome?
- Both contain the Chrome token. The parser checks the Edge and Opera tokens first, since those browsers identify the engine separately.
- What is a crawler?
- A string matching common bot and crawler names, such as Googlebot. Those rows make it easy to skip a request in a log view.
