Extract Mentions
Pull every mention such as a username out of a text and get the list back one per line, with email addresses left out unless you want them. Skips email addresses.
How to use
- Paste the text into the box.
- Choose whether email addresses count as mentions.
- Copy the mention list.
Extracting mentions collects the at-sign handles from a text. Because an email address also contains an at-sign, the tool normally skips anything that sits inside a word, and reports how many it skipped.
Paste or type something above.
Questions about extract mentions
- Why are some at-signs skipped?
- They are part of an email address, so they are reported as skipped rather than listed as handles.
- Which characters are allowed in a handle?
- Letters, digits, an underscore, a full stop, and a hyphen, which covers most platforms.
- Can I get the handles without the at-sign?
- Not in this tool, so the list can be pasted straight back into a post.
