Text Extractor
Pull pieces out of your text by a regular expression, or take a range of words or characters, and get the matches back one per line. Regex or word and char range.
How to use
- Paste your text into the box.
- Choose to match a pattern or to take a range.
- Copy the extracted pieces.
A text extractor pulls selected parts out of a text. A pattern extracts everything that matches, while a word or character range takes a slice, which covers most extraction work without a full scripting environment.
Paste or type something above.
Questions about text extractor
- Which pattern syntax is used?
- The JavaScript regular expression syntax, which is the same as the one the regex tester uses.
- Why did my pattern find nothing?
- Patterns are case sensitive by default, so a pattern in lower case will not match capitals in the text.
- Is the range inclusive?
- Yes, the from and to numbers both count, so 1 to 3 returns the first three words.
