Find and Replace
Find a word or phrase in your text and replace every occurrence at once, with whole word, case, and regular expression options. A whole-word option is included.
How to use
- Paste the text into the box.
- Enter what to find and what to put in its place.
- Copy the replaced text.
Find and replace rewrites every occurrence of a string in a text. A whole-word option avoids mangling a word inside another, and the regular expression option covers the cases a plain search cannot, such as collapsing repeated words.
Paste or type something above.
Questions about find and replace
- What does whole word mean?
- It only matches when the search text is bounded by spaces, punctuation, or the ends of the text, so cat will not match concatenate.
- How do I use a regular expression?
- Turn the option on and write the pattern without slashes, for example two backslash and w plus a plus sign for repeated words.
- Is the search case sensitive?
- Only when you turn the option on, so The and the are treated as the same word by default.
